Joshua 5 – Circumcised Hearts

God is so cool. Seriously. No really. He’s so cool.

We’re all from a variety of cultures, with a range of different experiences, from different social classes, and yet what binds us all is that through Christ our hearts have been circumcised. Not because we’re holy. Not because we’re a particular race. Not because we’re particularly good. But because we said, when we chose to follow Him, God my heart is yours, cut away the parts that are not of yours, and let me walk in your ways.

How awesome is that. A tapestry of diversity unified by the blood of Christ.

And then in Joshua 5:9 it says:

Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.

And the same way that the stone of the tomb was rolled away, Christ’s resurrection signified the beginning of our freedom from sin, so too God rolls away the sin of our lives from us, when we let our hearts be circumcised by Christ.

God is so cool. Seriously. I could go on. 🙂
